January is Senior Pet Health Month! 

We can't stop aging, but we can help our pets age happier and healthier. In most cases our pets age more gracefully than we do. So it is hard to think of our active, vibrant 7+ year-old pets as seniors, but physically they are. Early detection and preventive care are the keys to avoiding:

Heart Disease - Arthritis - Dental Problems

Cataracts - Kidney Disease - Hearing Loss

Weight Problems - Growths - Diabetes

So each year Allgood Animal Hospital dedicates December and January to making sure our senior pets are with us for a long time.

Our recommendations for good senior health include:

   * A thorough physical examination every 6 months

   * Yearly laboratory testing to check for anemia, infection, kidney and liver function,

      diabetes, thyroid function, etc.

   * Fecal examination and urinalysis

   * Proper diet and nutrition

   * Dental prophylaxis

   * ECG, x-rays, and other procedures as needed
